There was no determination made Monday on whether a man accused of hitting and killing a Jacksonville firefighter is mentally fit to stand trial.

Bryce Allen appeared before a judge Monday but because his mental evaluation report from the State Hospital wasn't ready, the hearing was rescheduled for next month.

Allen is accused of killing Captain Donald Jones and injuring two others in March after police say he ran into them while they were responding to an accident involving Allen's mother.

Allen has had mental issues in the past.

We'll keep you updated on his case.

Whatever his mental condition, he needs to be locked away for good so he can never endanger another person.
