UPDATE: Evacuees from Pope County Fire Allowed to Return Home

7:30 p.m. Update:
Authorities now say anyone evacuated from the Atkins fire can return home.

Officials believe the blaze is now largely contained.  It's estimated to have burned more than 200 acres.

Original Story:
Crews are battling a wildfire in Pope County and running out of water.

It broke out about three o'clock this afternoon along Pea Ridge near Moreland.

Emergency officials are evacuating at least 100 homes near Highway 105 and St. Joe Road, also Merdock Road, Hartwick Lane, and all the way up to Isabell Creek Lane.

The area is about 40 acres.

The cause is not yet known.
