Police were already investigating an assault at 11 Yorkton Drive, just south of Baseline Road, when officers heard two gunshots from the next street over, Merrivale Drive. Minutes later, at about 12:35, a man who had been shot, drove up in a car.
Demetrius Barton, 40, of Little Rock, collapsed after stepping from the car, and was taken to the hospital with injuries police described as life-threatening.
Before he passed out, the man told police someone named "J.R." shot him. The man's teenaged son told officers the same thing and gave them a description of the suspect, saying the suspect and his father had fought earlier in the evening.
Barton was unable to tell police where the shooting happened. His condition is unknown.
Police had been called to the Yorkton Drive address just before midnight, where Leodis Hall, 37, of Little Rock, reported being hit several times on the head while inside his car.
The rear window and passenger rear window of Hall's vehicle were broken out, police noted in their report.
Police say Hall could not tell them who attacked him or where it happened. His injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
