The Baxter County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) says the 1975 Kenzi 16-foot fishing boat with a 9.9 horsepower Mercury motor had been stolen from a dock at Cranfield Marina last month. The boat and motor were valued at about $1,400.
Early Monday evening, the BCSO was called by the Cranfield Marina manager, who reported he had just spotted the stolen boat on Norfork Lake and was following it in another boat heading toward the Pigeon Creek area.
Sheriff's deputies arrived at Pigeon Creek after the stolen boat had been loaded onto a trailer and was being towed away by a Ford Explorer occupied by Steven Scott Staton, 39, and Henry Nielsen, 23, both of Mountain Home, the BCSO said.
Deputies stopped the vehicle to investigate and determined that the boat in question was in fact the boat reported stolen.
Both men were taken into custody and taken to the Baxter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $500 each, and they will appear in District Court on June 28th.
