It's been two years to the day since two West Memphis police officers were killed in the line of duty.
Now, investigative files show those responsible were under the microscope of the FBI for years, with no indication of the violence they were capable of.
You may remember back in 2010, West Memphis officers Brandon Paudert and Bill Evans were shot and killed by Jerry Kane and his son Joe during a traffic stop-both were self-proclaimed sovereign citizens.
They were later killed by officers in a shootout in a Walmart parking lot.
Now, documents obtained by the Memphis Comercial Appeal say that while the FBI had been tracking Kane for financial fraud claims, they didn't find any hints he was armed and willing to use a weapon against officers.
