A ballot error has been discovered in Faulkner County, one day before early voting begins in Arkansas' primary election.
Faulkner County clerks are reprinting ballots after learning the word "Representative"was omitted from appearing before state Senate District 15 candidate Ed Garner's name. Garner is currently serving as a state house representative. He faces Representative David Sanders in the Republican primary for that seat.
According to state law, an elected official's title is allowed to appear on the ballot.
The omission, Garner says, put him at a disadvantage because people will not know his experience in state government.
Alex Reed, spokesperson for the Secretary of State's office, confirms Garner's name was certified properly, the issue occurred at the county level.
Reed says the County clerk is correcting ballots Sunday night ahead of early voting Monday. But Garner says he's still concerned about the absentee ballots sent out earlier.
The Faulkner County Election Commission is reportedly meeting to discuss the matter Monday.
