A well known Van Buren County Attorney died after injuries he sustained during a fight.
According to police, Rosendo Ross Meeks, 27, who is referred to as Ross Meek and Brett Blakney, 43, got into a fight in front of the Black Dog Grill on may 3rd around 10:59 p.m.
Officials say on January 16th meek was arrested at the black dog grill for public intoxication and the manager stated he was no longer allowed there.
Police say they advised meek if he came back he would be charged with criminal trespass.
But on may 3rd meek and his friends were said to be inside the grill drinking, according to a witness.
Around 10:59 p.m. Clinton Police say they were dispatched to the Black Dog Grill to a fight.
When they got there they say Blakney was lying on the sidewalk unconscious.
to witnesses, Meek began to follow Blakney outside asking why he
couldn't come back to the grill.
When Blakney turned around to answer him, meek punched him, causing Blakney to fall and hit his head on the concrete.
Blakney was taken to Ozark Health.
According to the police report staff and a young woman were upset they couldn't get the helicopter to med flight him and southern paramedic wouldn't transport, because they only had one ambulance in the county, and couldn't leave the county unattended.
Police say a nurse passed by in the ER and said, "If he's not transported he's going to lay here with that head injury and bleed to death."
Police say they were able to show Blakney three photos. He didn't recognize the first two. But was able to positively identify the last one as Ross Meek.
Police say Meeks took off and hasn't been seen since.
When caught, Meeks will be charged with manslaughter and criminal trespass.
