Update: Lowell Police Chief Still in Critical Condition

UPDATE 2:50 p.m. (03/29/12)

Lowell police chief Joe Landers is in still in critical condition after a serious motorcycle crash Friday night.

Lowell mayor Eldon Long says through a press release that Chief Landers' condition worsened and is no longer breathing on his own.

In addition Chief Landers is experiencing swelling of the brain.

Lowell police chief Joe Landers is in critical condition after a serious motorcycle crash Friday night. 

Lowell is in Benton County.

Mayor Eldon Long says Chief Landers was on vacation in Panama City, Florida when the crash happened Friday night.

Chief Landers was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Mayor Long says Landers suffered severe head trauma.

Long tells KARK several family members are traveling to Florida to be with Chief Long.
