FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - University of Arkansas basketball players Steven Hill and Preston Cranford have been named to the 2005-2006 Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll, which was announced by the league office. Hill, a sophomore accounting major from Branson, Mo., started 29 of 32 games for the Hogs and finished the season with a team-high 91 blocked shots. He averaged 3.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 blocks. His block total is the most for a Razorback since Oliver Millers school-record total of 112 in 1991. The 91 rejections by Hill is the second-highest season total in school history. He is already third on UAs all-time list with 145. Cranford, a junior English major from Heber Springs, appeared in 10 games this season for the Razorbacks. To be eligible for the honor roll, a student-athlete must have 24 hours countable towards their degree completed and a 3.0 grade point average for either the previous two semesters or their career. The winter academic honor roll is based on grades from the 2005 spring, summer and fall terms. Hill and Cranford helped the Razorbacks finish 22-10 this year and earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in five years. Arkansas was 10-6 in the SEC with wins over NCAA champion Florida and NIT champion South Carolina in addition to a road win at then-No. 10 Tennessee. The Hogs finished tied for second in the Western Division.
