FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas Razorback assistant coach Tracy Rocker will add another honor to his resume this weekend when the former Auburn All-American football player is inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in Birmingham, Ala. He will be honored for his standout playing career at Auburn from 1985-88. Rocker, who twice gained first-team All-America status while at Auburn, will be part of an induction class that also includes former Auburn and San Antonio Spurs forward Chuck Person, former Alabama All-American defensive back, Jeremiah Castille; former Jackson State standout Robert Brazile, and former Jacksonville State baseball standout Rudy Abbott. Long-time Auburn broadcaster Jim Fyffe, former Auburn football player Billy Atkins and journalist Bob Phillips will receive the honor of induction posthumously. In addition to his All-America honors, Rocker also received national recognition by winning two of college footballs most prestigious individual awards. He was the winner of both the Outland Trophy and the Lombardi Trophy at the end of his senior season in 1988. The Outland Trophy goes to the nations top interior lineman and the Lombardi Trophy honors the nations top lineman. The 1988 SEC Player of the Year was also a three-time All-SEC selection and led Auburn to SEC championships in both 1987 and ‘88. Rockers accomplishments on the football field did not end with his collegiate career. After being drafted by the Washington Redskins in 1989, he proceeded to collect All-Rookie honors in 1990. His pro career also included a brief one-year stop in the World Football League. Rockers coaching career began in 1994 at West Alabama and has taken him to Troy and Cincinnati before landing his current position on the Razorback coaching staff in 2003. Sundays enshrinement will be Rockers second induction ceremony in less than a year. In December, he was enshrined into the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame with former Razorback standout Wayne "Thumper" Harris. The induction banquet will take place Sunday in the Birmingham Ballroom of the Sheraton Hotel in Birmingham.
