I feel so bad with the firing of Coach Heath...such a class person and family. I believe he deserved another year. Good record..not great...but not all records can be great. He lost heavily last year with some leaving early. Although I am sad, perhaps that makes the midgit-in-character negative-opinion-writer for the Dem-Gaz. happy...at least for a while...happy. He spewed his venom toward Health and now he is gone. Happy day will be when one day that midgit-in-character is gone. He will one day spew his venom on the new basketball coach. Mark it down...It comes under the heading of "negative sells" or so they believe. Wake up fans. Only at the first will he pretend he is their buddy...then the venom will come. Always has in the past and always will in the future if history teaches anything. |

I am so aggravated that they decided to fire Stan Heath. He was a class act and I agree with the poster that said Heath was hired because there was so much turmoil over Richardson and African Americans. For Vincent Hunter to get on TV and say he was all right with it because he didn't get to play as much as he wanted to was a joke! He won't play for the next coach either. He was going to shoot the ball come H*** or high water
and it was usually a wild shot!!! |

| Frank Broyls should be removed immediately. He said Heath would be removed if his team did not go to the NCAA Tournament. He has shown a lack of integrity and professionalism by failing to keep his word. |

There are many, many programs competing for #1 in the NCAA, to expect (almost demand) your program to be #1 is setting a pretty high goal.
To lead Coach Heath to believe that Arkansas making it into the tournament would secure his job, then fire him anyway, was pretty low.
How can Arkansas expect to attract future potential coaches/players if upper management can't be trusted to keep their word. |

First of all, Broyles never said publicly that Heath will keep his job if he makes the NCAA Tournament. All that was reported was "sources say that .....", we don't know who those sources are or if anything like that was said in the first place.
Secondly, it is time to move on, I mean seriously. A 7-33 SEC road record and a 31-49 overall SEC record in 5 years is enough to get any coach fired. Folks, you've got to win in your conference to get anything done. Winning teams never have a record such as Heath's in their own conference.
And third, yes he is a good man!!! A great man! Stan Heath should be a model for all men in his position to go by. BUT, (and you all know what I'm about to say), being an outstanding person doesn't mean that will get you W's. You've got to perform in any job you have to retain it.
It is time to move on and embrace the future. Let's just hope we can keep some of the players deciding to leave. GO HOGS! |

| Stan Heath is a class guy and any institution would be proud to have him affiliated with itself. However Stan is not a great coach - Stan is not even a good coach- Stan is a bad coach. The truely great coaches can call a 20 second timeout and make an adjustment with thier team; A very good coach can make adjustments at halftime; An average coach can make adjustments the next day at practice; Bad coaches do not have the knowledge to make the adjustments after YEARS! 3 years ago the University of Auburn threw a zone defense on Arkansas in the 2nd half and the hogs were totally confused. The next game no adjustment. The next year, No adustment , The 2nd year, no adjustment. This year (over 2 YEARS later we finally had a clue at times how to attack the zone. The same can be said of handling traps and pressure!!!! There was a lack of respect from the players at Kent State for Stan. And it seems the same can be said here at the Great University of Arkansas. Yes Stan would have probably made it back to the Tourney next year and underachieved again. Stan needs to get some fire in his belly and some more basketball knowledge in his head. Stan IS A GREAT GUY |

"would" is the basis to everything we know about this subject. |
