Officers say police were called to the scene of a home break-in in the Highway 49 South area around three o'clock this morning.
In a news release, the PPD said what made this burglary different from most others is that the victims were home and asleep in their bed when it happened.
The release also stated:
The suspect went as far as entering the bedroom of the victims to steal property. Obviously, this is unsettling for the victims. It is concerning for us as well.
Please remember to lock your doors and windows, especially before going to bed. Also, if you have a garage door make sure that it is down. Criminals are opportunists. If given the opportunity to commit a crime, they will. By keeping doors and windows locked and garage doors down, you are not giving the criminals the opportunity they seek. This will also help keep you and your family safe.
The Paragould Police Department is working diligently to identify the suspect or suspects involved in the burglary mentioned above so that justice can be served. If you notice suspicious activity in your neighborhood, no matter the time of day, please call the police department and report it. Also, if you have a suspicion that entry was made into your home through locations such as a garage or screened in porch, please contact the Paragould Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division at (870) 239-7556. With your help, we can make a difference and hopefully deter future criminal activity.
