It will actually take place a few days before the holiday for which it's named, but a Valentine's Day 5k is Saturday (February 9) in Russellville.

It's the third race of the 2013 Arkansas Grand Prix Series and will take place at Bona Dea park.

The 3.1 mile course is entirely on paved trail that winds through the wildlife sanctuary.

The race is run in four heats to relieve congestion on the path, which is not as wide as a normal street.
  • Men 40 and over - 9:00 a.m.
  • Women 40 and over - 9:30 a.m.
  • Women 39 and under - 10:00 a.m.
  • Men 39 and under - 10:30 a.m.
The 5k has the added feature of the Sweethearts competition for an additional $3.00 per registration where male and female teams compete in either married or unmarried categories.

The combined time of the man and woman are used to determine the winners of the side competition.
