With the 2011 Arkansas State Fair just days away from getting started, there's lots going on at the
State Fairgrounds in Little Rock to get ready for it.

Today was Media Day at the fairgrounds, a chance for fair officials, food vendors and others to offer a sneak peek and taste of what you'll find on and off the midway this year.

The Arkansas State Fair Food Vendors area lists 57 concession stands offering a little bit of everything (more details below). Click here for a food vendors map.

Also on hand for Media Day at the State Fair were a menagerie of animals, including some that will compete in the livestock portion of the ten-day event. They included pigs (with the Show-Me Racers attraction), sheep, a pony and even a camel named "Obie," who are featured in the petting zoo.

The theme for the October 14-23 event is "Ridin' Rockin' Livestockin'."

The fun begins at 11AM on Friday, which is also one of two days KARK 4 sponsors the Ride-O-Rama (the other is the last day of the fair on October 23). Just buy an armband at a midway ticket booth for $22 and get unlimited rides all day (admission to the gate and parking are not included).

Food vendors were on hand with some of the items you'll find at concession stands this year
including:
  • cheeseburger on a stick
