A Little Rock man was shot and killed Tuesday, the only apparent reason, he was home when someone broke in.

It happened at 4 Lark Place, on the southwest side of town, around Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the victim is Maurice Clark, 67. Neighbors say he was the kind of man who looked out for his neighbors and neighborhood.

Police say four suspects kicked in the door at Clark's home. The homeowner heard them and walked downstairs, that's when he was shot and killed. The suspects then stole his Chevrolet Cavalier and took off.

A witness pointed an officer on Baseline towards the car, and the officer followed the suspects to a home on 46 Wakefield. They then pulled into a yard and all four suspects jumped out of the car and ran off. They were later caught.

Neighbors say the homeowner is a man who was very respected.

"He was a beautiful man. He didn't bother anyone or disrespect anyone. If you needed help or something and he could help you, he'd help you," said neighbor Priscilla Huff.

Police later charged three suspects and released a fourth person without charges.

Police also say they have what they believe is the gun used in the killing.
