Around 3:10 p.m., during school pick-up, Lavaca Schools notified the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office about an armed man and woman in the parking lot in a white Crown Victoria sedan.
Shortly thereafter, a Central City Police Officer and Sebastian County deputies located the car on Highway 255 at Pierce Newman Street, say officials.
Police say that the car was stopped and a .22 caliber rifle, a .45 caliber handgun, and two knives were found in the car, along with $20,000 worth of meth.
Esteban Arreola, 29, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm on School Grounds, along with 2 counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, and Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms. He was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, and Drinking on a Highway.
Vanessa Barrett, 26, was arrested and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Barrett is the mother of the children they were picking up.
Both were booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center.
