The second meet and greet day in the search for the Little Rock School District's next superintendent on Tuesday offered the public a chance to meet the only female finalist.

The Little Rock School District hosted the second of four interview days on Tuesday, and with positive feedback from the public, they're hoping the trend continues.

Dr. Stefanie Phillips said student achievement and community involvement in districts are two of her big priorities. Phillips, serving most recently as deputy superintendent in Clayton County schools in Georgia, reached the path non-traditionally, by teaching at the university and adult program level instead of K-12.

But she believes that's given her a broader, and better understanding of education administration.

"It may be that bringing another perspective to the table may be what's necessary to bring us to a better place," Phillips said.

Parents like Jim Ross demanded an open interview process for the finalists, and he says he's happy with the results of the process so far.

The next meetings are on Wednesday Feb. 27 and Monday, March 4.
