Do you have a holiday gift to exchange or return?  If so, you may want to do it as soon as possible.

Before you stand in one of those long return lines, here is what you need to know about some of the largest Christmas retailers.

First up, Amazon.com.  Items shipped in the last two months of the year can be sent back until February 1st.   After that, you're subjected to a restocking fee and price changes.

Target, meanwhile, requires a receipt for all returns and exchanges and most returns must be made within 90 days.

Target also has a receipt look up for items purchased using a credit, debit, check or gift card.

At Walmart, you have until January 20th to return or exchange high priced electronics like TVs, computers and cameras.

For most items, Walmart will accept returns and exchanges for ninety-days after purchase.

Bottom line, return or exchange items ASAP and bring the purchase receipt.

By the way, those stores are counting on you doing a little extra shopping when you come in to exchange or return.

The National Retail Federation estimates shoppers will spend more than $7 billion on after Christmas deals.
