While Thanksgiving looms heavily on the minds of many right now, the Salvation Army is getting ready for Christmas.

The organization kicked off its annual red kettle campaign Friday afternoon at McCain Mall.

Every year the red kettle campaign enables the Salvation Army to provide food, toys and clothing to thousands of Arkansans.

The fundraising campaign also helps keep the Salvation Army homeless shelter open.
