A Huge Army of Encouragement -
Judi King/Little Rock
Well, now I am relegated to “Spirit
Runner” because of a foot disability, but I still go down there to cheer my team
on because I know I am needed; we are *all* needed in this fight against
cancer. I have lost friends to breast cancer, my mom to cancer, and I now have
several friends who are fighting this battle. I know they need all the positive
energy they can muster for this fight. I watched my mom go through all that she
did; the chemo, the radiation, and she was scared, but she was so determined to
survive. Unfortunately, she lost her battle. Then I had 2 coworkers who were
diagnosed, and this last year achieved their 5 year survival status! Going
downtown on Race Day is so amazing—the positive energy that just overflows the
whole area—you can’t help but be awed by the experience. I just wish all cancer
survivors could go down there on that morning to see that they are not in this
fight by themselves—there is a huge army out there supporting them and lifting
them up with love and encouragement.
