I Race in Memory of My Memaw! - Tanya Wright

I race in memory of my Memaw! She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1983 and was in remission for 20 years before she was diagnosed with lung cancer a few years ago. The 3rd annual Race for the Cure was my first time to participate and I haven’t missed a year since. I love seeing all the women on race day in their pink shirts and hats out showing their true spirits. It makes me extremely sad to think of all those who have fought and lost their battles with breast cancer. I am very joyous for those who have fought and won their battles, though, and are now in remission. I am very proud to participate in such an outstanding cause! I just pray that our commitment to find a cure pays off very soon to save countless new victims from having to go through what so many already have.
