I Race Because Cancer Touched My
Home - Patrice M. Green
My aunt, whom my family calls me her
Twinkie, was diagnosed with breast cancer a little more than three years ago.
Originally from Arkansas she moved to Texas. Upon hearing the news we traveled
to Texas to support her during her operation to remove the lump. She went
through chemo and radiation treatment. We watched as she kept high spirits in
spite of losing her hair and the changes the treatments took her body through. I
race because I want to find a cure. I race because I want to show my support. I
race because cancer has no respect of persons and it touched my home. When I
cross the finish line this year, I’ll be thinking of her and so thankful she was
blessed to beat it.
