I am Trying to Turn Bad into Good

I am Trying to Turn Bad into Good  Donna Johnson/Conway

The reason I race is for my mom and for myself.  We both had breast cancer, she did not make it with hers, I have been lucky with mine. It will be 6 years this Nov.  for mine.  I LOVE to see ALL the people that come out SO EARLY on a Sat. to walk AND run in the race.  It brings a tear to my eyes to see them.  When I walk in the survivor walk after the race, it makes me sad to see some women crying, I know they are thinking of a loved one that didn`t make.  I think of my mom when I am walking and remember all the good times we had.  I work with Susan Koman to educate others on how to do self exam each month at my church here in Conway.  I am trying to turn something bad into something I can help others with.  I feel so lucky to have lived after having cancer and I love helping others.   I also work with American Cancer, I visit women in the hospital that have had  surgery for their breast cancer and give them helpful info.  I will be giving a talk here at UCA next month on breast health awareness.
