I Race to Let my Friends Know Their Prayers Worked - Laura Newman/Little Rock
I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, and went to the race in October 2006 leaning on the strength of one of my dearest friends. I will race this year with a healthy body and spirit, to say “thank you” to all the thousands of friends and others, plus my physicians and nurses, who prayed for my recovery. I’ll be there to show others who are battling this disease that they can get through it, and that the other side of the journey is wonderful. My cancer was Stage 4, and now I am cancer-free and filled with love and enthusiasm for each new day. I finally have the energy to help others and give back some of the support I received last year. I race to advocate more funding for research to find a cure for this terrible disease. I race to show my family that I’m determined to live well, strong and happy.
