Flying American? $15 to Check a Bag

americanairlines2008-05-21-1211386421.gifAmerican Airlines says starting June 15th, it will cost customers $15 to check their first bag, and as announced last month, 25-dollars for the second bag.

In addition, the airline is reducing the number of domestic flights, retiring up to 50 planes in the process, which also means layoffs. The company hasn't given exact numbers yet.

American's shares dropped on the news of the announcement by 13.4 percent, down to $7.10.
