A Home That Won't Sell

Many of us probably can't imagine what it's like to wait, and wait, and wait some more, for your house to sell… but one Maumelle resident does.

"We've had the house for sale for approximately one year and listed with two separate real estate agents as well as for sale by owner dot com and not even one offer,” says homeowner Tony Carlin.

            Carlin says he doesn't understand the holdup.

            His home is immaculate, updated and spacious, but he's not having any luck with sellers.

            "My neighbors around me say you've got the most beautiful house on the street and why is it not selling and I don't know,” Carlin says.

            To get his house off the market, Carlin has dropped his asking price and plans to take it down again in the near future.

            He also brought in experts to stage the home, adding furnishings and decorations where needed.

            But still, no luck, which means Carlin will probably have to list another home he's building in Hot Springs, and sell whichever he can first.

            "I don't want to be stuck making 2 house notes, I only have to live in one, so I'll put the other Hot Springs house up for sale and whichever one sells first is of course the one that'll sell,” Carlin says.

            But believe it or not, Carlin says he isn't worried.

            in fact, he says he doesn't think things are as bad in Central Arkansas as they are elsewhere.

            "I work in the contracting business and I still work and there's still lots of houses being built so apparently, something's right,” Carlin says.
