Want Whiter Teeth? Watch Your Diet

smile2008-02-05-1202246370.jpgIf you're looking to brighten your smile, some experts suggest starting with what you eat and drink.

Coffee, tea, red wine, and dark syrupy sodas tend to stain your teeth quickly.

One dentist says drinking through a straw helps the drink go right back into your throat, bypassing your teeth.

Eating raw vegetables is also a natural way to whiten teeth, but some healthy foods can have the opposite effect.

Blueberries and raspberries are things that would stain a white shirt, and often tend to stain your teeth as well.

Most people don't need expensive whitening procedures to remove some food stains.

But, some dentists caution against trying to brighten your teeth by using pure baking soda because the mild abrasive can erode enamel.
