Arkansas Doctor Pleads Guilty to Fraud

doj2008-01-30-1201725778.jpgA doctor who operated a pain management clinic in North Little Rock has pleaded guilty to health care fraud.

Dr. Brian T. Nichol, 43, made his plea today in Federal Court in Little Rock.

Nichol admitted in court that while operating Interventional Pain Consultants, he knowlingly, by means of deliberate ignorance, executed a scheme to defraud Medicare and the Arkansas Medicaid program by making false certifications on a number of submitted claims.

He also agreed to pay more than $15,000 in restitution.

Nichol faces up to ten years in prison, and/or a $250,000 fine.

A sentencing date has not been set.
