AV node

AV node: The atrioventricular node, or AV node, is the electrical link between the upper chambers of the heart (atria) and the lower chambers (ventricles). The AV node receives signals that are initiated by the sinus node in the right atrium of the heart. If the sinus node is diseased and ceases to function, the AV node can take over the role of pacemaker for the heart.
