Updated: July 28, 2010
Ventricular Fibrillation: (VF) An extremely serious heart rhythm disorder that is synonymous with cardiac arrest. In VF, the heart's electrical activity is so erratic that it can no longer pump any blood. Death follows within minutes if the patient is not treated. VF is often confused with myocardial infarction, which is a loss of blood to the heart tissue.
