Now, thanks to Computer Power Day, students in the Little Rock School District will be able to purchase refurbished computers for $40.
The computers are no longer used by the district and sent to the Metro Tech Career Center, where they fix them up for the kids.
"We are trying to counter the digital divide; the zeros for the students that do not have access to computers at home and the ones for students that do," says David Crawford, supervisor of the Computers for Kids program. "Unfortunately, we have to many zeros, too many students without computers."
Parents had to register ahead of time to ensure they'd get a computer.
