Shawn Redmond used aggressive telemarketing to target homeowners in neighborhoods where storm damage had occurred, according to Attorney General Dustin McDaniel. Consumers signed contracts for the roofing work and turned over insurance proceeds to Redmond, who either unreasonably delayed work or failed to provide the repairs at all, according to McDaniel.
Redmond, owner of the now-defunct Razorfast Roofing and Razorback Roofing, has to pay $109,144 to the state for fines and costs, and $28,137 to affected homeowners in northwest Arkansas. McDaniel says Redmond violated the Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and the Arkansa Home Solicitation Sales Act.
The AG's office says Redmond was found guilty last year in Washington County on multiple counts of theft by deception. He was ordered to pay restitution to consumers in that case as well.
