Friday a Hot Springs mom will get to take her son home from Children's Hospital.

"No one thought he was going to make it," said Dana Homan. "I didn't. And then he did and now like I said he's walking, talking, being himself, joking with me and joking with friends."

It's been two weeks since we shared with you the story of the Lake Hamilton High School senior, Lance Womack. He's the class president seemingly loved by all.

He was severely hurt in a car accident in the middle of February and remained unresponsive for days following brain surgery.

Womack and his girlfriend were leaving the Lake Hamilton High School parking lot when another car hit them on the passenger side, the side Womack was on.

"Every doctor that he talks to is like you should not be where you are at today," explained Homan. "That's not just from my point of view it's from the medical staff too and it's great I mean I can not tell you all the prayers. I mean that's why he's here basically."

Dozens of his friends have stayed by his side all along.

"We couldn't believe it," remarked one of his best friends, Lauren Tilley. "He's back to our friend and you know, it's crazy that we have this much but I think it's gonna be a long road, but he'll get back to normal. I know he will."

For now though, for the Hot Springs mom who's just happy her son is alive, him just being here will do.

"Each day he makes progress his therapists say," she added. "That's all we can ask for."

Lance has just two more days left to go then sometime Friday the family says he can leave, go home and try to resume life as normal.

His friends report they've raised well over $10,000 to support Womack's hospital and recovery bills.

Homan says they have attorney's going to court for them next week because the person they say was responsible doesn't have auto insurance.
