LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Students rallied behind the idea that you can get a lot further in life with a college education on Monday to kick off "Say Go College" Week.

Governor Mike Beebe even got involved by encouraging high schoolers to continue their education.

It was a celebration at hall high school this morning, as students from the school band filled the gymnasium with music, and the Hall Warrior cheerleaders pepped up the group gathered to rally behind a positive message.

It was all to kick off a week of focusing on getting students ready for college.

Seniors like Anferene Floyd have a number of colleges to choose from, just one benefit of having started thinking about going college long before his senior year.

"It's something we've talked about since we got here in the ninth grade," Floyd said.

Floyd sat with the other students to hear motivational speeches like the especially passionate one delivered by Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe.

"You can go out and grab your share of the American dream," Beebe said.

Governor Beebe shared his own personal story to help encourage the students, telling them about his past, and being the product of a single-parent home.

"I never knew my dad or saw my dad. I didn't have a dad but I had a great momma," Beebe said.
