Sebastian County Deputy Dies After Accident

The Sebastian County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of one of its deputies in a car accident early Saturday morning.
Corporal Terry Johnson was seriously injured in a one-vehicle accident around four o'clock this morning on Highway 96 in Lavaca.
A witness called 911 reporting that he had heard a loud crash and saw a white vehicle on it's side, in a ditch.
Emergency crews used the Jaws of Life to free Corporal Johnson from the car. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith where he died from his injuries this afternoon.
Investigators say Johnson was on routine patrol when the accident happened.
Corporal Johnson's body is being sent to the State Crime Lab.
He had served the Sebastian County Sheriff's Officer for more than 15 years.
