PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. -- The woman who tried to steal Morgan Nick's identity was sentenced Thursday afternoon in Pulaski County.

Tonya Smith was sentenced to six years probation and a $2,500 fine.

Smith was arrested after trying to steal the identity of Morgan Nicks, a girl who was abducted 17 years ago from Alma.

Morgan's mother, Colleen, says she is at peace with the sentencing.

"You know, I was looking at her in court yesterday and thinking, 'I hope that she takes this as an opportunity to really reevaluate her life and to start making good decisions,'" she said.

Smith will now go back to Louisiana to face charges there.
