Hot Springs Residents Signing Position to Maintain Local Government Order

By: KARK 4 News
Updated: February 28, 2013
A group of Hot Springs residents are signing an online petition saying they won't vote to change the city's form of government.

It's in response to a formal petition asking that a special election be held in Hot Springs.

The election gives voters the option to change the government from City Manager-run government to Mayor/City Council-run government.

According to the city clerk's office, the petition was not filed by a Hot Springs resident; and comes at an estimated cost of $20,000.

The Hot Springs Board of Directors is expected to make a proclamation next week, setting the election for May 14.
