By: KARK 4 News
Updated: February 18, 2013
The number of rabies cases in Arkansas more than doubled from 2011 to 2012.

The final numbers for 2012 show 131 positive cases compared to just 60 in 2011.

However, there were more than 1,200 exams done, with most cases involving skunks and bats.

On average, Arkansas sees only 45 cases a year, but experts say cases were up in 2012 due to a milder winter.
