Sheriff Marty Moss tells KARK, they were called to her house on Fox Chase Drive around 3:30 Sunday afternoon after witnesses in the area heard gunshots. Sheriff Moss says when they arrived, they found her dead in the home. It appears McCready died from a single gun shot wound to the head.
Her body has been sent to the State Crime.
Few other details are being released at this time.
Recently, McCready had been in and out of rehab while battling addiction and mental health issues. She was being treated for mental health issues at a facility earlier this month before being released to an outpatient program.
McCready, 37, rose to fame with her mid-nineties hit "Guys Do It All The Time." She's had 12 singles on the Billboard country singles charts.
McCready was also well known for having a long-term affair with married baseball player Roger Clemens. The affair was revealed in a 2008 report.
Earlier this year, the father of McCready's second child died from a gunshot wound. It was believed to be self-inflicted, but an official ruling has not yet been made. The Cleburne County Sheriff's office was believed running additional forensic tests to determine whether or not David Wilson committed suicide.
McCready leaves behind two children.
