National History Day is right around the corner, and this year's theme is "Turning Points in History."

Elementary students at Lisa Academy are working on exhibits to present to judges later in February for the National History Day contest.

If the presentation goes well, the students could possibly go on to regionals, and then nationals at the University of Maryland.

"They've worked extremely hard," says fifth-grade teacher Crystal Hula. "There is a lot of research that goes in to this; they choose their own topics based on their interests and they do really, really well."

Some of the topics include Title 9 and the gold rush.

A total of 10 students will be chosen to go on to the regional competition held at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock in March.
