The police chief in Hampton (Calhoun County) has been suspended with pay by the city's mayor.

Jeff Jackson says he has no idea why he has been suspended and is talking with his lawyer about it.

Mayor Rick Shiron says that he can't comment on why Jackson was suspended while it's being investigated by the Arkansas State Police (ASP).

However, the ASP says there isn't an active investigation of Jackson.
