Very severe cases of an inflammatory skin condition appear to be linked with an early death.
An analysis of medical records for over 700-thousand people found patients with extreme psoriasis generally died three to four years before people without the condition. psoriasis generally affects the skin and joints, and causes itchy scales. The reason behind the apparent increased risk for death is unclear. It's important to note - the vast majority of patients had mild psoriasis -- which was not associated with an increased risk of death.
