Arkansas AHA Chapter Preps for 'Go Red for Women Day'

The American Heart Association (AHA) is asking for women across Central Arkansas to help America go red this year.

The 10th Annual National Wear Red Day is coming up next month.

The Arkansas chapter of the AHA held a survivor gallery on Wednesday featuring ten women who have fought heart disease or stroke.

The survivors, ranging in ages from 5 to 91, lined up at the state capitol as a visual reminder that heart disease does not discriminate.

"The reason we are here today at the state capitol is to raise awareness for heart disease in women and make sure we have legislation in place that not only helps women in Arkansas, but also men and children in Arkansas," said AHA Communications Director Alexis Sims.

National Go Red for Women Day is scheduled for this Friday, Feb. 1.
