Update: 1 Dead, 1 Person in Custody After Shooting Near Morrilton High School

The Morrilton Mayor tells KARK that the victim of Monday afternoon's shooting has died.

The man's name has not yet been released.

Original Story (8:58 p.m.):
Morrilton Police say they have one person in custody after a shooting that occurred near the high school and middle school campuses Monday afternoon.

According to a release issued by Morrilton PD, officers responded to the shooting just after 3:00 Monday afternoon on Adams Street in the North Hills Subdivision.

Upon arrival, officers found a man approximately 28 years old, who had been shot, police say.

According to police, although the incident happened near the high school and middle school campuses, no students, faculty or staff were injured or involved.

Morrilton Police ask anyone with information to contact them.

The condition of the man who was shot is currently unknown.
