Local Reaction to President Obama's Proposed Gun Control Policies

By: Deedra Wilson

Criminal background checks.

Banning military style assault weapons.

Cutting magazines to ten rounds.

And making gun trafficking penalties tighter.

Here's what some had to say about the new proposals...

"I'm against gun control. I'm for the second amendment. It's just the federal government coming and taking more power, said Corey Townsend."

"As a mother gun control is important, after the school shootings, i think there are some serious things that need to happen, added Courtney Caldwell."

A recent poll from the Pew Research Center shows a majority of Americans back a ban on "assault style weapons."

But only 4 in 10 Republicans support those restrictions - compared to more Democrats who do.
