The Saline County Quorum Court voted on Tuesday night to approve a voluntary tax to establish Animal Control Services in its unincorporated areas.

The cities in the county largely have their own animal control, but more rural areas do not have an established service to help with strays or other animal issues.

Saline County residents can opt to pay the voluntary five dollar tax, or more if they choose, when they pay property taxes each year to help establish the service.
