Original Story:
The Little Rock School District closed schools early Tuesday morning because of inclement weather concerns.
Superintendent Dr. Morris Holmes says the decision was made after his office received the weather forecast, feedback from the District's Departments of Transportation, Safety and Security, and Executive Cabinet, and reports from District officials on road conditions throughout the city.
Particular considerations were were given to:
- 16,000 students who ride LRSD buses, including approximately 8,000 elementary students and approximately 8,000 secondary students
- 300 buses - 70 of which transport students with disabilities
- 9,000 students who walk to and from school or are transported by car
Parents, employees, students and staff will be informed via public announcements and ParentLink. Additional information will be posted on LRSD TV, lrsd.org, FACEBOOK, and Twitter.
