The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will hold a Public Involvement Meeting in Hot Springs to discuss plans for improvements to Highway 7 in the Lake Hamilton area, according to AHTD officials.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Lake Hamilton Baptist Church, in the Fellowship Hall. The church is located at 5963 Central Avenue (Highway 7) in Hot Springs.

Plans call for widening 1.5 miles of Highway 7 to five lanes in the Lake Hamilton community, extending from the Ouachita River (Lake Hamilton) Bridge southward to Highway 290. Sidewalks and bike lanes are planned on both sides of the roadway.

The public is invited to visit anytime during the scheduled hours to view displays, ask questions and offer comments. For more information, contact the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department's Environmental Division at 501-569-2281.
