Children in hospitals are at an even greater risk. Signs cover Arkansas Children's explaining the restricted guidelines in place specifically during flu season.
"We really are trying to protect those kids while they're in our care from being exposed to something new," said Gilliam.
Especially when this flu season has already claimed more than half a dozen lives.
Gilliam said they're taking special precautions and are seeing families follow.
For example using Facetime and Skype to limit the amount of visitors.
"Those are technologies that allow them to visit and don't pose a risk when they come into the hospital," he said.
All staff members have gotten the vaccine and they encourage the parents to get it too, but say there's nothing better than old fashioned good hygiene like washing your hands.
