Arkansans for Equality aims to get a measure on the ballot to repeal Amendment 83, a law approved by voters in 2004 that defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman.
"We believe that the will of the people created this discrimination and that the will of the people can now be given the chance to rectify a grievous error," the organization said in an email statement.
The civil rights group says it has met with its attorney and intends to file the ballot language with the Attorney General's office soon.
